Let me ask you a few questions. How are things going for you? Are you on track to make this year count? I’ve had to ask myself these same questions.
If you’ve noticed, my posting has been sporadic over the past month and a half.
As we approached the halfway mark of the year, I figured it was a good time to take a step back and give myself a mid-year check up.
I’ve got a lot of irons in the fire and you probably do to.
Currently I’m in the middle of planting a new church called Freedom Community Church; trying to develop an online equipping ministry for urban your workers called 33Seven; writing here on mutamwenya.com; doing freelance web design; and just committed to doing some work for a firm for the next year!
So rather than put out half-hearted content I slowed down posting, among other things, to reevaluate what the rest of the year will look like. Though the first half of the year has been okay, it has not been great. That doesn’t sit well with me.
In addition, because I have go-getter syndrome, my workflow has been unsustainable. We know know how unhealthy it is to keep at an unsustainable pace.
After a few weeks of thinking and praying here’s what I’ve determined:
- Planting Freedom Community Church is my primary focus. My energies are going to be heavily focused on passionately pursuing the vision God has laid out for this. Because my team and I will not draw a salary from the church initially, we’ll need to find other sources of income.
- That means my work with 33Seven needs to move from that of passion ministry, to an income generating enterprise. I need to focus on developing more paid content consistently and looking at different income generating models. I will keep you posted on this.
- Also, my contract work with this new firm will provide a little cushion financially. We want to pursue our goals, but we don’t want to be reckless.
- Finally, the biggest change will come on this blog, mutamwenya.com. Expect me to post only once a week on Mondays. My posts will be mainly about what I’m learning on my journey to live life on purpose. Along with this will be my 5 minute segment on the Amazing People Podcast. Links to the podcast will be provided on mutamwenya.com.
And folks, those are the results from my mid-year check up!
I’ve had to reevaluate the way I work in order to position myself to make 2014 “the year of the underdog”! I want to make this year count. Hopefully you do to.
If you haven’t evaluated where you are, I would highly recommend it. I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Now I can work with renewed passion and vigor to meet my goals.
Question: Are you on track to make 2014 count? If so, how are you staying focused
