Empty Shelf Book #4: 10 Big Things

Jon Acuff has this challenge going on called the Empty Shelf Challenge. It’s a great opportunity for those who want to read more books in 2014. Read here to join us on this fun challenge!

This is the fourth book I’ve read for the #EmptyShelf Challenge.

Below is the format I plan to do this year for each book I read.

10bigthingsTitle: 10 Big Things LIttle Kids Taught Me

Author: G. Andrew Beresford

What’s it about: It’s about the life lessons a dad learned while spending a few years as the primary caregiver of his two sons.

Why did I read it: Being a father of two sons myself I found the title intriguing. Plus it’s also written by a good friend of mine.

Favorite idea: In Chapter 8 entitled “It’s A Setup”, Beresford shares how he and his wife, while trying to potty train the boys, would set them up for failure by giving them a snack or warm milk right before bed. He relates this to how we fail to meet our own goals by not “setting ourselves up for success.” I love this statement “Procrastination leads to hesitation, which leads to immobilization, which leads to stagnation, which ultimately leads to termination.”

Where can you buy it? Right here.
